{Married}: Katie & Jason

Last weekend I had the honor of photographing a dear friend's wedding. Katie and I worked together in college and formed a fast friendship that lasted throughout our college days, then through her move to Louisiana and mine to California, and we still keep in touch today. When she asked me to photograph her wedding I was beyond thrilled. I had never met Jason before, but had heard lots about him in emails over the past three years. After dating for a few months she wrote in an email, "I love every minute I spend with him"...I knew he must be something special - and he is.

Katie & Jason had a delightful wedding at Tower Grove Park surrounded with their closest family and friends on a beautiful summer day. Katie pored over every detail for this event, making it feel completely personal and unique. Watching the two of them interact was such a joy - there is nothing better than knowing that your friend is truly happy. Katie & Jason, thank you so much for putting together such a fun celebration and asking me to be a part of it. Congratulations to you!!

We had a chance to take some wedding party pics before the ceremony began - just look at how cute the bridesmaids "bouquets" were. Who needs cut flowers when you have darling pinwheels to carry down the aisle?!?

One of my favorite moments - when the best man and maid of honor greet their newly married couple!

While it was definitely a beautiful summer day, it was also a muggy, Missouri summer day. Props to Katie on planning ahead with the adorable fans.

On my trip to St. Louis for the wedding I was trying to picture what the photos would look like from the day. All I knew was that I was going to have this smile in LOTS of photos, and I was right. If you know Katie, you know she's a greater laugher ;)

Several months ago Katie told me that her idea was to make mini-pies for each guest. She said she hadn't tried it yet but was hoping it would go well...I have to admit that I was skeptical that such tiny adorable pies could be made. I was wrong. Not only were they the cutest things ever, but oh my, they were delicious.

Jason's mom is above and Katie's parents are below. They were all so, so kind and wonderful to be around. They each married into a great family!

Jason's nieces were absolutely adorable - here are a couple shots of them enjoying the park on a hot summer day!
