Oh my, how I've waited for May to get here so I could travel to Missouri for this shoot. My dear friends, Michael & Kristyn, adopted their son Tegene this January from Ethiopia. I was hoping to photograph them from the second they all set foot back in Missouri. I read along as Kristyn & Michael documented their journey through the adoption process and was often moved to tears with their excitement, nerves, and joy. I told them that I wanted to capture them - as a family, as they are. I planned on taking some family portraits but I really wanted to document their daily life, so when Tegene is older he can look back and remember what his first 6 months in this house and in this family were like. I think we were able to capture the love, the fun, and the joy of this family of two becoming a family of three. The photos make me smile because they show happiness on my friends' faces. I hope they make you smile too.
